Minecraft

We are running a Minecraft Dedicated Bedrock Server 1.18.12 with the following addon packs:

Recommended client side packs:

Connection Details

  • Server Name: Old Folks
  • Server Address: old-folks.xyz
    • Backup Server Address: 208.113.129.99
  • Port: 19132 (default)
  • Note: There is an allowlist enabled. Contact obee on discord for access.

Connecting to the Server From Switch and Xbox

PC and Mobile can connect directly to the server, but unfortunately Switch and Xbox don’t currently support non-Realms custom servers (but big name servers are supported?). To get around this, a proxy is needed.

Follow the instructions here. Below is my notes (Switch):

  • Exit Minecraft, and browse to Settings/Network/DNS Settings.
  • Select Manual DNS Settings and change the DNS settings to 104.238.130.180 (primary) and 8.8.8.8 (secondary).
  • Restart Minecraft, Select Servers (third tab), and connect to any server (look for the “Join to Open Server List” message – it won’t actually connect to the listed server).
  • Once connected, enter the connection details as above to be redirected.

What’s going on here is you are routing DNS lookups through a custom server that is running BedrockConnect. This will hijack the default channel lists with one they control, allowing you to then connect to the one you actually want to.

Feel free to contact obee with any thoughts, questions, or concerns.
